Site Evaluation

My site evaluations were group sessions, conducted remotely. We discussed some of the common drugs used in family medicine, particularly hypertension and diabetes management agents. My site evaluator focused on the high yield, board question related things about each of the drugs we discussed. I presented cases on gastroesophageal reflux, pneumonia, and prepatellar bursitis. My site evaluator strengthened my skills for coming up with alternative treatment plans for conditions when patients are not responding to the current medication regimen. Additionally, I was given feedback on indications for an ER referral from a primary care office. I also presented a journal article on the effectiveness of a certain pneumococcal vaccine for older adults aged 65 and older. I wanted to explore more about which vaccines are indicated in certain scenarios as I was having difficulty answering practice questions on those. Overall, I enjoyed these group sessions because I was able to also learn from my classmates’ HPIs and come up with differentials from their chief complaint.
